Jordi Bayona-i-Carrasco is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Barcelona, and an Associate Researcher at the Centre for Demographic Studies. He holds a degree in Geography from the University of Barcelona (UB, 1998), a postgraduate degree in Methods and Techniques for Population Studies (CED, 1998), and a PhD in Demography from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB, 2006). His doctoral thesis focused on the settlement patterns of the foreign population in Barcelona. His research primarily examines migratory flows, both internal and international, and the socio-demographic characteristics of immigrant populations. He pays special attention to settlement processes, exploring various aspects such as spatial location patterns (segregation, concentration and diversity), access to housing, the labour market and the education system.
