Call for Abstracts – ECSR Network Workshop “Understanding Kin Relations”
The organizers Lisa Jessee (Cologne University, Julia Sauter (Lausanne University) and Beyda Çineli (CED & UAB) are excited to announce the upcoming ECSR Network Workshop “Understanding Kin Relations”, taking place on 2–3 March 2026 in Cologne, Germany!
The workshop will bring together scholars working on family and kinship to deepen our conceptual understanding of kin relations and explore how advantages and disadvantages are transmitted through family networks. It particularly aims to connect PhD candidates and early-career researchers to foster collaboration and visibility. Confirmed keynote speakers are Thomas Leopold and Marco Tossi.
We invite submissions of abstracts (max. 500 words) by 21 November 2025.
The event is funded by the European Consortium for Sociological Research (ECSR) and free of charge, including accommodation, lunch, and a conference dinner.
